Horseskinned Bowl
Ø 46 cm H 29 cm – Ø 18.11” H 11.42”Turned thin from solid oak, the exterior ebonised while the interior is deeply smoked and finely sanded to a warm, resonant tone. Despite its scale, the walls remain delicate, allowing the material to respond and subtly deform during drying.
Broad and low, the form unfolds in a continuous, swelling curve, gently compressed by its own width. The silhouette feels cohesive and grounded, shaped by subtle organic deformation rather than strict geometry.
The brushed exterior retains a quiet roughness — a tactile surface reminiscent of stretched hide. The grain undulates across the body, creating a soft, flowing topography that shifts with the light.
Inside, the surface is smooth and warm, absorbing light differently than the matte, darker outer skin. No visible interventions interrupt the form — only the quiet evidence of drying, movement and time.
Understated yet expansive, the bowl carries a calm physical presence, defined by mass, material and touch.
Ebonised oak exterior. Smoked oak interior. Walnut oil and beeswax.
